Last month, via the Green Phone, Ecological Society "Krka" from Knin received a report by a group of citizens regarding the spread of highly unpleasant smell along the street.

Rivulet Marčinkovac due to the high temperature, dried out and the unpleasant smell spread as a result of accumulated faecal waste at the riverbed. Namely, city sewage of one part of the city is discharged into Marčinkovac, and because of the lack of maintenance of the riverbed, there was a build-up of waste.

We reported the case to the town of Knin and Municipal services of Knin, as well as to the Water Rights Inspection Service. After the employee of the City of Knin went to the field, the spread of highly unpleasant smell due to the lack of maintenance of the riverbed was determined, and it was agreed to repair it.

Repair and cleaning will be done by Hrvatske vode in cooperation with the Municipal enterprise Knin. A positive development in this case is the quick reaction of the town of Knin and of Hrvatske vode, as well as insisting of the contractors that the competent representatives of the City and Ecological Association "Krka” from Knin are present during works, so that the works could be performed according to all laws and regulations, with special emphasis on protecting the nature and the environment. The process of cleaning and repairing has not yet begun, the preparation of the necessary documentation is in progress.
